Astral Travel for Beginners: Steps to Start Exploring
By Allie Theiss, MSc, CSC, ABS
Energy Worker, Psychic, & Soul Connection Guide
Have you ever felt yourself floating just before falling asleep? Or woken up with memories that didn’t feel like dreams—but like somewhere else?
That might not have been your imagination. That might have been the beginning of astral travel.
So What Is Astral Travel?
Astral travel (or astral projection) is the experience of consciously leaving your physical body and exploring the world—or the cosmos—with your energy body. It’s part dream, part meditation, part magic. But mostly? It’s about connection—to yourself, to the universe, and to energy realms beyond the physical.
You don’t need to be “advanced” or gifted. You just need curiosity, practice, and a willingness to trust what you feel more than what you see.
How to Start Astral Traveling
1. Set the Intention
Say it out loud or write it down:
“Tonight, I will remember and explore my astral travels.”
Simple. Clear. This primes your subconscious.
2. Create the Right Space
Dim the lights. Turn off distractions. You want to be deeply relaxed, but not so exhausted that you fall asleep immediately. Try lying on your back with your arms by your sides, or sitting propped up with pillows.
Optional tools:
Selenite or amethyst nearby
Lavender oil for calm, or Mugwort oil for extra astral power
Binaural beats or soft white noise
3. Use a Gateway Technique
Try the rope technique:
Visualize a rope hanging above you. In your mind, reach for it and imagine pulling your energy body out, inch by inch. The goal isn’t speed—it’s sensation. Tingles, vibrations, or lightness are all signs you’re close.
Other options:
-
Float above your body in your mind’s eye
-
Roll to the side (energetically—not physically!)
-
Imagine yourself standing at the foot of your bed
4. Stay Calm
The first time you feel vibrations, buzzing, or light pressure, your instinct might be to freak out. Don’t.
This is the sign that you’re shifting consciousness. Breathe. Let it happen. Curiosity will take you further than fear.
5. Explore, Return, Record
Even if you hover above your body for a second, it counts. With practice, you’ll go further.
When you come back, journal immediately. Your logical brain will try to talk you out of what just happened. Don’t let it.
Astral travel isn’t about escaping—it’s about expanding. You begin to understand how powerful and limitless your consciousness truly is. It’s empowering, deeply healing, and honestly… addictive (in the best way).
You won’t master it overnight, but you’re not meant to.
You’re meant to remember who you are—beyond the body, beyond the noise, beyond the veil.
